How to Upload Images on Yahoo Images
Here is a step by step instructions how to upload your pictures to the Yahoo network image service, Flickr.
Step 1
Visit Flickr homepage and sign in with your Yahoo ID. Your Yahoo ID is the same ID you would use to access your Yahoo Mail account. If you do not have a Yahoo ID, you can either create a new account with Yahoo Mail or simply sign up for one with Flickr images service.
Step 2
Click “Upload Photos” link on the Flickr service’s main page. If it’s your first time to use Flickr for image upload, the link will say “Upload your first photos”.
Step 3
Click on the “Choose Photos and Videos”. This will pop up a “Browse” window. Highlight the pictures. Click on the photo(s) you want to upload and then click “OK”.
Click on the “Upload” button to popup a status. Once the status bar fills, the upload will be complete and you can share and tag your images.
Tip
- You can prevent your Flickr photos to show up in the Yahoo! Image search engine. Simply check the “Private” setting before you upload.

Let’s take a look at Yahoo’s new image search. Just to compete with Google, Yahoo recently revamped its image search engine. Image search on Yahoo features a new design and layout, and a new addition of thousands of high quality images to the search engine.
When you open the Yahoo search page at https://images.search.yahoo.com/ you get a selection of popular topics beneath a search form on top.
This is similar to what Microsoft displays on Bing, and what advanced search Google Images showcases. Unlike Altavista, Images Yahoo displays individual images and not trending image searches.
If you enter a search term, say Wikipedia or Facebook, in the search form, Yahoo Images will take you to a free image search results page that displays an endless stream of small thumbnails to you. This advanced image search is becoming popular with yahoo images uk where celebrity name searches are trending upward daily.
A couple of larger thumbnails may be displayed on top and are linked to picture galleries or yahoo gallery instead of individual pictures.
When you use your mouse to hover one of the larger preview images on Yahoo Images, it will display the picture information and the number of the images contained in the gallery.
You can click one of the thumbnails to open a slideshow where you can browse similar or related images. Each picture is displayed individually on the screen. With controls buttons you can flip through them with the click of the mouse.
How to Use Yahoo Advanced Search Images
There are control buttons on the page to switch to full screen viewing mode, to start playback of the slideshow in order to load new images automatically by the website, and to share images.
All photos within special galleries are taken from Getty Images which Yahoo has partnered up to power its location-based searches.
You can get a gettyimages copyright notice on all images. Also, photos from other website pages are pushed down the results for location based searches.
Yahoo Search prevents websites that ranked highly for location-based photos, from not ranking that highly anymore for generic searches. This is unlike altavista uk searches for images.
The left sidebar menu offers several interesting filters for you to select. You can switch from all images to only images from Yahoo, access top galleries only which offer a selection of Miami related photo galleries, or search by size, color or usage rights.
Yahoo Images displays curated image galleries (also called yahoo photos album) on top. This provides you with themed entry points for your image searches from Getty Images archive.
